ACTIONS
Moistens Lu (Lu Qi and -Yin deficiency), stops cough. Nourishes St, generates fluids, clears Heat. Moistens exterior.
Rx Adenophora / Nanshashen better for stop coughing. Rx Glehnia Littoralis / Beishashen used nowadays.
Non Physical: "Persons who are not in contact with themselves", "for not wanting to hear people talk".
Persons who cannot be saturated.


INDICATIONS
Physical: Non-productive cough due to Lu Yin xu. Consumptive cough with blood in sputum or hoarseness due to chronic cough. Aftermath of febrile disease, Yin xu causing dry mouth/throat. Constipation. Dry and/or itchy skin especially worse with cold, dry weather.
Non Physical: Sadness, grief.


CONTRA-INDICATION
PF Wind Cold-cough, Sp Cold from xu.
Antagonizes Rx Aristolochiae Fangchi/Fangji.
Incompatible with Rh et Rx Veratri/Lilu
